Getting started
What is Cascade?
Cascade is an app for Magic: The Gathering collectors and players. It keeps your card collection, your decks and your lists, tracks card prices and the cards of upcoming sets, and lets you playtest your decks. It works on the web, on iPhone and iPad, and on Android, with one account. Cascade is made by Cascade MTG LLC and is not affiliated with Wizards of the Coast.
Is Cascade free?
Yes. Your collection, decks, card scanning, and sync between devices are free, with no limit on the number of cards. The free plan also includes 3 custom lists, 20 wishlist cards, and 3 watched card prices. Cascade Premium is optional and adds more, such as price history for your collection, decks, and lists, and unlimited lists and wishlist cards.
Do I need an account?
Not to look around: card search, card prices, sets, spoiler lists, banlists, Secret Lair drops and shared decks and lists work without an account. To keep a collection, decks, lists, a wishlist or a watchlist, create a free account with an email address, or with Apple, Google or Discord.
Is Cascade available in Japanese?
Yes. The website and the iOS and Android apps are available in English and Japanese. You can also track cards printed in Japanese and other languages.
Collection and import
How do I add cards to my collection?
On the web, select “Add card” on your inventory page, or “Add to...” on a card page. To add many cards at once, use “Select cards” on a set, a list or a deck, or import a list. In the apps, tap the plus button on your inventory, then “Search cards”, “Scan cards” or “Add from list”.
Can I move my collection from another app?
Yes. On the web, you can import a file or pasted text from ManaBox, Archidekt, or MTGGoldfish, a plain card list, or a Cascade CSV file. You can also export your collection, decks, and lists as text or CSV at any time.
Read the guide: Move your collection to CascadeCan I export my collection, decks and lists?
Yes, at any time. On the web, select “Export” on your inventory, a deck or a list to get plain text, with or without set information, or a Cascade CSV file. The apps also export the inventory as a Deckbox or MTGGoldfish CSV file, and decks as a Deckbox CSV file. The wishlist and the watchlist have no export.
Read the guide: Move your collection to CascadeHow do I add foil copies or cards in another language?
Each entry in your collection is one printing of a card with a quantity for each finish: non-foil, foil, etched or glossy. A card in another language is a printing of its own, so choose the language when you add the card, or change it later in the card’s edit dialog. Cascade does not record the condition of a card.
Which of my cards are in decks?
Cards stay in your inventory when you add them to a deck. Cascade counts which built decks use each card, by name across all printings, and how many copies are still available: filter your inventory by “Decks”, or open a deck’s “Your copies” screen to see what is missing or in use by your other decks. Basic lands and the maybeboard are not counted.
Which cards of a set am I missing?
Open the set’s page: it shows how many of its cards you have, and “Missing” lists the cards that you do not have yet. “Set progress” shows your progress in every set. You can count unique cards, all printings or all finishes.
Card scanner
Can I scan my cards?
Yes. The Cascade apps for iOS and Android scan cards with your phone's camera and add them to your collection. Scanned cards show up on the web too. The website itself does not scan cards.
Read the guide: Scan cardsThe scanner chose the wrong printing. How do I fix it?
Before you import, tap the card in the “Scans” list and use “Change version” to choose the right set and collector number. There you can also change the quantity, the finish and the language. For a card that you already imported, open it in your inventory and edit it.
Read the guide: Scan cardsHow do I get better scans?
Hold one card at a time inside the brackets, in even light without glare, and tap the screen once for each card. If the scanner reads the wrong language, choose the card language at the top right of the scanner. Check the rows marked “Check card” or “Check version” before you import.
Read the guide: Scan cardsDoes the scanner work without an internet connection?
No. Cascade matches each scanned card on its server, so scanning needs a connection. The apps also need a connection to show and change your collection, because your cards are stored in your Cascade account.
Decks
How do I import a deck list?
On the web, select “Import deck” on the Decks page, give the deck a name and a format, and paste the list. In the apps, create the deck, tap the plus button, then “Add from list”. Cascade reads plain card lists, ManaBox, Archidekt and Cascade CSV files, MTGGoldfish deck lists, and EDHREC lists for Commander and Brawl decks. Headings such as “Sideboard” put the cards in that section. Without Premium, maybeboard cards are not imported.
Read the guide: Move your collection to CascadeCan I playtest a deck?
Yes. On the web, open a deck and select “Playtest” for a full table: draw, play, tap and move cards, and track life and counters. In the apps, use “Test” on a deck. Playing is free. Premium adds undo, draw odds, playtest stats and saved scenarios.
What does “Built” mean on a deck?
A built deck is a deck that you made with your real cards. Its cards count as in use, so your other decks cannot count the same copies as available. Turn it off on the deck’s “Your copies” screen for a deck that you only plan or test: its cards then stay available for your other decks.
Prices
Where do the card prices come from?
Cascade shows TCGplayer market and median prices. They are in US dollars. On the web, Cascade converts them to your currency with daily exchange rates, and you can choose another currency on your account page. Cascade saves prices once a day, so every card page shows how its price has changed over time.
How often do prices change in Cascade?
Once a day. Cascade saves the TCGplayer prices of every card each day, and the price history charts show these daily prices. The exchange rates for other currencies also change once a day.
Can I see prices in my own currency?
Yes. Card prices are TCGplayer prices in US dollars, and Cascade converts them with the daily rate of the European Central Bank. Cascade chooses the currency of your region; to choose another one, open your account page on the web, or Settings and then “Currency” in the apps. On the web, the choice applies to that browser. Currencies without a European Central Bank rate show US dollars.
Why does a card have no price?
Cascade takes its prices from TCGplayer. A card has no price when TCGplayer does not sell it, or when nobody has listed or sold it yet, for example before a set comes out. A new card gets its first price on the first daily update after TCGplayer has a price for it.
Does Cascade earn money from the TCGplayer links?
Yes. The TCGplayer buy buttons are affiliate links: when you buy cards through them, Cascade can earn a commission. These commissions and Cascade Premium pay for the app. Cascade has no ads.
Lists, wishlist and watchlist
What is the difference between lists, the wishlist and the watchlist?
Lists are your own card lists, for example for trades or for a set that you collect: the free plan has 3, and Premium has no limit. The wishlist holds the cards that you want: 20 cards free, no limit with Premium. The watchlist follows the prices of cards: 3 cards free, and up to 300 with Premium.
What are spoiler lists, banlists and Secret Lair drops?
Cascade keeps some lists up to date for everyone: spoiler lists with the cards of upcoming sets during previews, the banned and restricted cards of each format, the cards of every Secret Lair drop, and curated lists. You can open them without an account. With an account, you can add their cards to your collection or to a list.
Account, sync and support
Does my collection sync between my phone and my computer?
Yes, and sync is free. Sign in with the same account, and your collection, decks, and lists are the same on the web, iOS, and Android.
How can I sign in, and can I change my email or password?
Sign in with an email address and a password, or with Apple, Google or Discord. When the email address of your Apple, Google or Discord account already has a Cascade account, the sign-in goes to that account; otherwise Cascade makes a new account. The account guide explains how to change your email address and your password.
Read the guide: Your accountWhy did I get a confirmation code by email?
An account that signs in only with Apple, Google or Discord has no password. When such an account changes its email address, deletes its inventory or deletes the account, Cascade emails a confirmation code to the account’s address instead of asking for a password. The code works for a short time only. If you did not ask for a code, contact us.
Read the guide: Your accountHow do I delete my account?
On the web, open your account page and select “Delete account” under “Danger zone”. In the apps, open Settings and tap “Delete account” under “Danger zone”. Confirm with your password, or with a code that Cascade emails to you. This deletes your collection, decks, lists and the rest of your data, and it cannot be undone. A web subscription stops at once; cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription in the store.
Read the guide: Your accountHow do I contact support?
In the apps, open Settings and tap “Contact support” to chat with us. On the web, select “Help & support” on your account page. Without an account, use the contact form, and we answer by email.
Still need help?
Write to us. If you have an account, use the support chat: in the app, open Settings and tap “Contact support”; on the web, select “Help & support” on your account page. Without an account, use the contact form, and we answer by email.
